About Chiropractic

What Is Chiropractic?

People have been adjusting the human spine for thousands of years.  The ability to correct a misaligned bone whether it be a finger, shoulder, knee, pelvis, jaw or spinal segment, has always been needed.

There’s a book called The History of Chiropractic, which covers the writings of physicians from Greece, Russia, South America, Egypt and many other places, that were adjusting the spine thousands of years ago.  Hypocrites, the Greek physician, known as the father of modern medicine, writes about his spinal adjustments.

In 1895, Dr. Daniel David Palmer, founder of Palmer Chiropractic College in Iowa, applied his knowledge of the human nervous system and the spinal vertebrae to make a specific correction of a spinal misalignment to relieve nerve pressure.  The new treatment was called Chiropractic, which at its root means “performed by hand”.

What Makes Our Office Unique?

Being a graduate from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, the first Chiropractic College.

Dr. Fodor was trained in 6 different chiropractic techniques known as the Palmer Package.  Dr. Fodor specializes in the Gonstead technique.  The Gonstead technique is a full spine technique that utilizes Instrumentation, Static Palpation, Motion Palpation, and X-ray to determine where and how much care your spine needs.  Our philosophy is to find it, fix it, and leave it alone.

It is just as important to know which spinal segments are functioning well and therefore, should not be adjusted, as it is to know which segments are in trouble and need attention.

Quality of care is very important to us and we take the time needed to give you the best care possible.

Chiropractic care can be divided into three types:

Initial intensive care, Corrective care & Wellness care.

  • Initial Intensive Care:  the time it takes to align the spinal segment that is causing pain/malfunction.  Initial Intensive Care is complete when the patient has improved 75% (both pain reduction & increased function)
  • Corrective Care:  the time it takes for the spine to stabilize and heal, and get muscle ligament & motion back to normal.
  • Wellness Care:  Designed to keep your spine functioning at its highest level.  Goals of Wellness Care are to see your need for care decrease with time and to prevent the need for Corrective Care & Initial Intensive Care.

Dr Fodor is happy to provide all three types of care, but if the patient only asks for Initial intensive care, we can provide this service alone.  Dr Fodor always gives his honest opinion of what is best for the patient, but in the end the patient makes the decision.  The patient is the boss.

Because Chiropractic effects the nerves, it can help with many conditions:

  • Carpel tunnel
  • Headaches
  • Migraines
  • Menstrual pain
  • Bladder function/Bed wetting
  • Digestion
  • Bowel function
  • TMJ
  • Numbness in hands
  • And many more!

When you think about it, most all illness is too much or too little.

  • Too much bowel activity is spastic bowel, too little is constipation.
  • Too much stomach acid causes heartburn or ulcers & too little causes indigestion.
  • Too much oil on your skin causes a break out & too little causes dry cracked skin.

The list goes on, but the point is that in many cases an abnormal function of the nerve going to the tissue, organ or gland can cause too much or too little.
